With over 15 years of experience in environmental protection, conservation, and humanitarian response, I am a National Officer (Environment) at UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, where I support the office in assessing and mitigating the environmental impact of refugee camps and promoting sustainable use of natural resources. I hold a UN CC: Learn Introductory e-course certificate issued by the United Nations Institute for Training & Research, and I have completed courses on tropical forest landscapes and environmental and natural resource economics from Yale School of the Environment and Doane University respectively. I have successfully implemented projects on co-management of natural resources, community-based adaptation to climate change, integrated floodplain management, and disaster management, working with a range of stakeholders, including international NGOs, national think tanks, research centers, community-based organizations, and government agencies. I have also contributed to the global recognition of the forest landscape restoration and climate action initiatives in the Bangladesh refugee operation, and I have been the focal point for Greening the Blue, compiling and reporting the country-level greenhouse gas data for UNHCR Offices since 2018. I am passionate about finding effective and innovative solutions for environmental emergencies and enhancing the resilience and well-being of vulnerable communities. | |
